The Other Side of Elsewhere

By Brett McKay

I don’t like being scared.

Let me just be clear about that upfront.

So, that’s a big part of the reason why I never got into reading horror very much. I have good friends who love that stuff. They’ll watch the scariest, goriest, ghostiest movies of all and love them.

My friend, Brett, writes horror as well as mysteries, grit lit, and other intense genres. I always wanted to encourage and support him, but I never wanted to read anything, because, as I said, I’m a wimp.

But I did, and I’m glad. The Other Side of Elsewhere is gripping and character-driven. There are scary parts, many of them, actually, but I found that I was so intently focused on Ret McCoy’s story and his need to solve the mystery of the crooked house that I even dredged myself through the mystical and frightening stretches just to see what happened next!

The supernatural scenes were pretty well thought through, too. Here’s a house that everyone says is haunted, and guess what? It is! But as Ret learns more and more about its history it becomes clear why and how. It’s not just ghosts and monsters, there’s stuff going on in there.

Anyway, get it, read it, and get scared by it.  Good stuff.
