The Creation Myth

In the Vast, the expanse of space and time is filled with huge and small pieces of matter, and immense clouds of energy. These drift and shift endlessly and randomly through the space, colliding and expanding on each other.

In the dark and distant past, The Creator, Yumirin, found this space and pulled great chunks of chaotic matter and energy from the Vast into the Great Reality, forming stars and worlds. At this world, he created six great dragons from each of the core magical essences:

  • Light and Shadow – The brightness of hope and the shadow of sorrow and pain
  • Nature and Striking – The renewing power of life and nature and the destructive power of energies
  • Mental and Dimensional – The order and clarity of the mind and the randomness of interdimensional chaos.

Each of these great dragons, together, under The Creator’s direction, shaped the world that the Land of Wynne is a part of, each one adding their essence to the whole earth.

Another god, a force in the dimensions, is The Destroyer. He is weaker than the Creator and constantly tries to undermine the success of his opponent’s creations.

After the creation of the world, it was populated with flora, fauna, and sentient beings, all of which began to live and grow and multiply over the whole world. Over millennia, the various races and ethnicities of the world evolved. All of the hominids in the world evolved from a single root of intelligent bipedal animal. Many of the nations in the world claim that they are the most direct descendants of the original and that all of the other populations are genetic offshoots. In reality, everyone is a branch.

The continent that later came to be known as Wynne was initially dominated by a group of hominids that were thin of build and about four to five feet in height with lighter skin, lighter hair, and sharper ears, who later came to be known as elves. Other offshoots of this branch of the evolutionary tree adapted to more specific environments, including forest dwellers, mountain dwellers, and even undersea and airborne populations.

Book 1:

Very little of the creation myth is mentioned in Book 1, only that there is a group of hominids that have formed a secret cult to worship the dragons.

Book 2:

In Book 2, the cult of the Dragon’s Flame pursues Thissraelle and Karendle in an effort to use them as leverage to establish a new reigning dynasty of the great Dragon Kings. It’s not mentioned, but they are driven by the belief that the dragons are descended from the original six creators of the world.

Book 3:

Thissraelle learns the creation myth from Heathrax, a great dragon scholar and wizard. He also teaches her much about the history of Wynne, especially from the point of view of the dragons.

Book 4:

Not yet written.  The characters go looking to find God and get instruction from Him. They look for the dragon gods as well as the Creator.
